I kind of disappeared from LJ...it happens.  Tumblr moves a lot more quickly and my life's been kind of weird the past several months.  So here's a quick rundown:

I got fired around mid-to-late February.   There were a lot of feelings surrounding this, the largest of which was embarrassment.  It's never easy to admit these things and I spent about a week hyperventilating about what the fuck I was going to do.   Then I got taken on full time at the second job and have since earned a raise that's put me back into stability.  I still have a lot of mixed feelings about that last job, though I definitely do not miss it.  Mainly because I feel like I was fired as a scapegoat for my supervisor's BS.

But that's reopening an old wound and let's not, shall we?

The "new" job can be tedious at times (what job can't?), but is mostly just awesome.  I really get to flex my artistic muscles besides doing web based stuff.  And the Commander likes my work enough that most of the time it remains reasonably intact (as opposed to ex-Lady Boss ripping everything to shreds for no good reason. Like forcing me to put Comic Sans on everything).  Even when it doesn't, I understand her reasoning as to why.

The only draw back to this is that it leaves me creatively drained come quitting time.  Most evenings I don't want to do a damn thing except talk to friends and game a bit...so that's what I've been doing.  XD Not the best response ever.  And addictive.

Most recently I acquired a new kitten, named Sillabub:

sillabub2w

That's another awesome thing about the job:  we can bring our pets to work.  She still not too crazy about her carrier, but it's getting better.  Next on the list is leash training.

Also: if there's anyone in the SouthEast Texas / SouthWest Louisiana area who wants a kitten my sister still has four she's trying to find homes for. Most of them are grey / tan, though.

So...yeah.  That about sums it up.  Job change, kitten, Mass Effect and Dragon Age.   XD I'll try to get back to posting more regularly.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

It doesn't look like much, but given that TSM & TGS are massive (each the size of a novel), I'd say it's about what I predicted. Though I had hoped to finish another chapter of TGS.  ...still have a few days to do that.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2011?

Dragon Age.  XD I didn't even know it existed.  Though of those I did know existed, I think Green Hornet is more surprising.  I was never into super heros.

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?

This Glorious Sadness. It's come a long way, and the fact that it is actually going to be finished is just...thrilling.  Now if only I can do this with original work. XD

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?

I'm equally worried over some of the subject matter in TGS and UaT, though as UaT is complete and no one has throttled me for it, I can stop worrying there.  I try to be as respectful to foreign cultures as I can, but writing the culture clash can lead into dangerous territory sometimes.

Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?

Finish TGS, What People do to Other Souls (if I can get my co-writer to comply), and The Lucky Ones.  If I can finally knock out Adventures in Tokyoland I'll be happy.

My Favorite Story:
This Glorious Sadness

My Best Story:
Us and Them or Solving for X

Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe:
Repeating myself from past years:  Let me go on record as saying that I HATE this question. But as I can't get myself to edit it out of the meme just cause I don't like it...

...I actually don't have an answer for this.  Really, I don't.  They're all about equally appreciated, or else haven't been published.

Most Fun:
Solving for X.  Which makes sense, because it's pure angst.

Most Disappointing:
White Blank Page.  I have ideas~ but no inclination to write on it.

Most Sexy and Best Sexy Moment:
Us and Them. That it's the only one which has any kind of sexy moment in it at all helps.

Hardest to Write:
Toss up between Us and Them, and The Lucky Ones.  UaT had a word limit on it because of Ficathon and it was murder trying to wrap it up appropriately while staying within the limit.  TLO is another of those I have all the ~ideas~ about, but piecing them together is like pulling teeth.

Most Unintentionally Telling
I still have trouble figuring out what "telling" means in this context.  As in Show-Don't-Tell or...idk.  The one that has more of your personal feelings in than you intended?  Either way, I'm gonna be a little egotistical and say that I don't think any of them fall into either category.  :/  It's one of the few things I'm proud of.

Damn near done.  We've got it edited to about 50%, and only the ending left to draft.  Yay!
